Symposium: Hubris in Business and Management – book now

Wednesday 20 May 2015, 13.30-17.00, Rik Medlik Building, University of Surrey, Guildford, GU2 7XH

Hubris is excessive self-confidence, exaggerated self-belief, and contempt for the advice and criticism of others; it has played a significant role in many political, economic, technical, and environmental outcomes that have proved disastrous.  Surrey Business School is bringing together some of the UK’s leading researchers into hubris in management for an exchange of ideas on the current state-of-the-art in hubris research.

The symposium will provide an opportunity to find out more about what business researchers have to say about hubris, and network with a wide range of practitioners and researchers all of whom are interested in understanding and managing the causes and consequences of hubris.  Our keynote speakers are all leading researchers in their respective fields and include

  • Professor George Berguno, Professor of Psychology, Richmond American International University, London
  • Professor Mark Stein, Chair in Leadership and Management at the University of Leicester., University of Leicester
  • Professor Dennis Tourish is Professor of Leadership and Organization Studies, Royal Holloway, University of London

The event is free of charge, but is limited to 30 participants on a first-come first-served basis so early booking is advised.
